Ever since I moved away from home for college, I typically get on a plane at least four times a year. Generally, this means that I am pretty good at packing, but I also make mistakes. My family moved to the carry-on-only strategy once my sibling and I were able to take care of our own suitcases. Back then, the suitcases only had two wheels and were made of fabric. They were also heavy. I guess we are lucky that most suitcases have four wheels, so you can even offload your backpack. However, that setup isn't ideal for every trip. Sometimes, the streets are narrow or cobblestone, and the wheel just isn't the best. Other times, you are on a short trip, and a full suitcase is too much. Airlines are also changing, and sometimes you just want to use a budget airline with only a personal bag. In the past decade of traveling, I've experienced all of the above and know there are better solutions. I've already started some research and may be trending towards becoming a 'gearhead' as well, but my bank account won't like that. So, instead of buying a bunch of bags that I like, I want to identify individual needs I have for traveling and find the most optimal item.
Some of the items that I have already decided to look for are:
- the perfect carry-on size travel backpack
- the perfect personal-item size bag
- the perfect camera bag day pack
- the perfect travel sling
